The Role
This is a hands-on role where you’ll design, deploy, and maintain high-performance network infrastructure using Juniper and Cisco technologies. You’ll take ownership of fault resolution, support internal teams and external partners, and help lead and mentor a team of engineers.

Responsibilities
This role is a 50/50 split between BAU and project work. You’ll be the go-to for complex fault escalation, support major infrastructure upgrades, and mentor other engineers while managing core network operations.

  • Act as the escalation point for complex faults from Network Engineers and customer environments
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware failures and telco-level routing issues
  • Liaise with L3 Telco Engineers and vendors to drive issue resolution
  • Design, deploy, support, and maintain core network infrastructure
  • Contribute to major infrastructure upgrade projects and internal initiatives
  • Assist teams with network planning, design, and implementation
  • Mentor junior engineers and support cross-team collaboration
  • Participate in an after-hours on-call roster as required

Requirements for the position
We’re looking for a seasoned network engineer with deep hands-on experience across core routing, switching, and fibre technologies.
  
Essential:

  • Strong knowledge of BGP, OSPF, and MPLS
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper routing/switching
  • Solid understanding of optical networking, including dark fibre and related infrastructure
  • Confident working in complex, high-performance network environments

Highly Regarded:

  • Telco routing experience
  • Melanox data centre switching
  • Q-in-Q VLAN stacking
  • Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
  • Palo Alto firewalls
