This role sits within a large Queensland Government department responsible for delivering critical services across the state. The ICT function supports a complex, enterprise-scale environment with a strong focus on security, compliance and service reliability. You’ll be joining a structured team environment working across core collaboration and messaging platforms that underpin day-to-day operations.
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with strong Microsoft 365 experience, specifically across Exchange Online and messaging services.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as SME for Microsoft Exchange Online, including mail flow, routing, shared mailboxes and distribution groups
- Lead Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for M365 messaging and collaboration services
- Manage major incidents, escalations and contribute to root cause analysis
- Contribute to email security and compliance settings in coordination with Cyber Security
- Plan and implement Exchange Online upgrades and decommission legacy systems
- Lead Microsoft Purview and eDiscovery activities
- Liaise with Microsoft and third-party vendors
- Drive continuous improvement across Microsoft 365 services
- Maintain technical documentation and SOPs
- Provide technical guidance to junior staff
- Participate in after-hours changes, maintenance and disaster recovery activities as required
Required Experience
- Strong experience administering Microsoft Exchange Online
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 in an enterprise environment
- Experience providing Tier 2/3 support
- Exposure to Microsoft Purview and eDiscovery
- Experience working within structured incident and change processes
