Hardware Engineer, IT & Telecomms

About the role
This role sits within the Service Team and reports to the Service Manager. You’ll take ownership of hardware, mobile and asset management across the organisation, ensuring systems, processes and stock are maintained to a high standard.

You’ll be responsible for end-to-end lifecycle management, service escalations, reporting, and supporting the wider team with technical guidance and process improvement. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where accountability, organisation and communication are key.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage hardware, mobile devices and peripherals across their full lifecycle
  • Oversee stock rooms, build areas, asset registers and compliance requirements
  • Own service tickets and escalations relating to hardware and device issues
  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting and SLA tracking
  • Support ITIL-aligned service processes and change management activities
  • Work closely with internal teams to improve service delivery and efficiency
  • Provide guidance, support and mentoring to service team members where required

About you

  • Experience in IT hardware, asset management or service desk environments
  • Strong organisational skills with close attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, changing priorities
  • Good understanding of ITIL service principles
  • Confident communicator with a practical, hands-on approach
  • Able to take ownership and drive outcomes without heavy supervision

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in IT hardware, asset management or service desk/support role
  • Strong understanding of hardware lifecycle management and IT asset tracking
  • Experience working in structured IT environments (ITIL exposure highly regarded)
  • Familiarity with managing stock rooms, device builds and equipment distribution
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft-based environments and common workplace tech
  • Confident handling service tickets, escalations and stakeholder communication
  • Strong attention to detail with solid documentation and reporting habits
  • Ability to stay organised and perform in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Leadership or mentoring experience is a bonus, not essential
