We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (SQL Server) for an initial 6‑month contract within a large enterprise environment. This role suits a hands‑on SQL Server DBA with strong experience in Always On Availability Groups, SQL Failover Clustering, high availability (HA) and database migrations.
You will support and optimise business‑critical SQL Server databases, working across on‑prem and cloud platforms, alongside infrastructure and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments
- Manage SQL Failover Clusters and Always On Availability Groups (HA/DR)
- Deliver and support SQL Server migrations, upgrades, and system transitions
- Monitor, tune, and optimise SQL database performance
- Manage backup, restore, disaster recovery and high availability processes
- Support both relational and non‑relational databases, including MongoDB
- Work closely with Infrastructure and Engineering teams on database design and support
- Ensure database security, integrity, availability, and compliance
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across SQL environments
Required Experience & Skills
Essential
- Due to checks, this role requires Candidates to have either an Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or PR
- Proven experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)
- Strong hands‑on experience with:
- Always On Availability Groups
- SQL Failover Clustering
- High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)
- SQL Server migrations
- Strong T‑SQL skills and SQL performance tuning experience
- Experience in large, enterprise or highly regulated environments
- Solid understanding of on‑prem SQL Server architectures
Desirable
- Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Exposure to Azure SQL / PaaS database platforms
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- SSIS / SSAS / SSRS
- CI/CD and Agile delivery environments
